My Top 5 Favorite Tabletop Games

My current favorite tabletop games to play with a group and one I enjoy for solo play.

Boardgame – group play

We are still playing Gloomhaven in my gaming group, having only recently started after finishing the prequel game Jaws of the Lion. This game is epic! Lots of character choices within a narrative campaign.

Boardgame – solo

Cloudspire is my favorite game to play solo. I love the Joining War lore and scenario book. It adds the narrative flavor that I enjoy in games. Chip Theory Games are known for their awesome components with the heavy chips and neoprene game mats. This is a brainbuster for solo play and that’s how I like my solo games!

RPG

I first played Dungeons and Dragons back in 1979. Memories of great fun sitting around the kitchen table crafting epic stories. Decades later and it still holds as my favorite role playing game. Get the Dragons of Stormwreck Isle Starter Set if you want to dive right in and then the Player’s Handbook, Dungeon Master’s Guide and the Monster Manual to continue your adventures.

Miniature Skirmish

Gaslands is fun…chaotic fun! Customize Hot Wheels and Matchbox style cars with Mad Max style armor and weapons bits and then battle it out on your tabletop. Gaslands: Refuelled is the current version.

Wargame

Battletech is another game I played decades ago that has found its way back to my table. The Game of Armored Combat Starter Set is a good jump point. The ultimate Battletech for me is Alpha Strike for big battles with table spanning terrain and scenery.
